ASSIGNMENT

 

Feasibility study for a sugar factory, animal feed plant and hardboard factory, using bagasse as raw material.

BACKGROUND OF PROJECT

 

Feasibility study for the construction of a 5,000 tcd cane sugar factory with the possibility of extension to 10,000 tcd, and the utilization of the by-products bagasse and final molasses. The studies were made together with the Iranian consultancy firm of OSVEH.  

 

SCOPE OF WORK

 

The services provided included the design and lay-out of a sugar factory, farm buildings and auxiliary buildings. Costing and lay-out of a cattle feed production plant from bagasse pith and final molasses, design of a particle‑board production unit from depithed bagasse. Review of the cane cultivation, harvesting and transport system, planned by local consultants, and assessment of the irrigation and drainage system. Planning of maintenance systems for agricultural equipment, and planning and design of workshops.
The overall consolidated financial analyses led to a positive recommendation. As a result the detailed design, tender specification and evaluation, and supervision on implementation of a 5,000 tcd factory and a 300 tonnes per day refinery were awarded to HVA, together with the Iranian consultancy firm of Enerchimi, and carried out during 1992/93.
