BACKGROUND OF PROJECT

Friese Vlag Indonesia (FVI) is a large milk processing company which produces a variety of milk products (UHT milk, evaporated milk, drinking yoghurt and infant food) for the Indonesian market. It uses imported milk powder for a considerable part of its products. In addition, about 300 tons of raw milk per day is collected from local sources. The FVI policy is to increase this amount, but to be able to use more locally produced milk, the quality of the fresh milk delivered to the factory must improve.

SCOPE OF WORK

bullet

Increase quality awareness of both the farmers and the co-operative employees through training programs.

bullet

Introduce a milk quality check system and implement a payment system which rewards quality.

The aim is to stimulate the farmers and the cooperative to deliver a high quality product while avoiding loosing them to other milk processors who are not (yet) imposing quality standards.

The hygienic conditions throughout the KPSBU milk collection chain must improve. Fro this purpose a CIP system, aluminum cans, can washers, tanker cleaning and milk-cooling tanks are introduced
