BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
|
|
PT Frisian Flag
Indonesia (FFI) is a large milk processing company producing a variety
of high quality dairy products. Part of its raw milk is sourced within
Indonesia from the local farmers cooperatives (KUDs). Unfortunately the
hygienic quality of this milk does not always meet the standards. In
order to improve the raw milk quality FFI has already supported the
Lembang KUD (KPSBU) in West Java with great success. To support a KUD in
Central Java with the objective to improve the milk quality supplied,
the Mojosongo KUD was selected.
The objective was also to improve the milk price received by the member
farmers and establish a quality control laboratory within the KUD.
|
SCOPE OF WORK
|
|
 |
Establish a good
functional milk chilling centre at Mojosongo to allow the KUD to
transport directly chilled milk to Jakarta (capacity 35 tons per day). |
 |
Establish a milk
quality control laboratory and initiate within the KUD a milk payment
system based on both hygienic and compositional quality. |
 |
Establish 6
smallholder demonstration farms with improved facilities for a
cleaner and better housing of the dairy cattle. |
 |
Establish
within the KUD an Extension Services and give extension to the
farmers on milk production, hygienic handling and dairy husbandry. |
 |
Through a
better quality milk delivered obtain better farmers prices and
making smallholder dairy farming sustainable again. |
